    Its a good article because often what you showed is counterintuitive. What I don’t understand is why real estate agents get away with working on a percentage basis, like the ridiculous amount of commission quoted in the article. It should be stopped.
    Almost all other professionals – accountants, lawyers, etc. – work on a time basis for an hourly rate.
    Real estate agents are supposed to be “professionals” too (but usually are not).
    If they had to charge by the hour then it be far better for buyers and sellers. This would be good for the effective agents, too, because they could command a higher hourly rate.

    So true. This has been our experience with a Jenman recommended agent. Got more than we expected in 4 days. Homes that are new to the market will attract a lot of attention, our purchaser was happy to pay more to beat out other buyers as they had missed out on other suitable homes in the area. Sold at first home open. Agent was ethical and honest. We are delighted to pay her commission.
