A Love List is a list of all that you love about your home and your area. It should include what first attracted you to your home; what you have grown to love while you’ve owned it; any improvements you have made – and, most importantly, the happiness it has brought you.
This list should include at least a dozen points. Some people list several dozen. I once saw a list prepared by elderly homeowners that had 127 factors they loved, right down to the benefit of having great neighbours.
This list should be headed “LOVE LIST” followed by the words, “What We Love About Our Home and Our Community”. It may be several pages. Ideally, you should have a photo at the top of the first page showing either the front of your home or the part you love most.
Several copies of this document should be handed to your agent. You can also leave copies in a prominent spot in your home so that potential buyers can take a copy.
A “Love List” is a great ally in helping you achieve a great result.
If/when a buyer makes a lower offer for your home and gives you a list of reasons (complaints) to justify their offer, you can push back with your Love List.
