Very sound advice, Neil. If I was investing myself I would certainly seek your advice.
Although, at 73 years old I don’t think property would be a good investment for me. Not enough time to recoup the outlay.

Hi Neil, the saddest thing for me in writing this is that I’ve been following you for many years and thought I had enough knowledge to keep myself out of trouble.
In 2018 my husband and I were flown to Melbourne after having an in home ‘consultation’ in Newcastle. We were given information (I called it a spiel, the guy was most offended) for a townhouse in a northern suburb. We had to make a decision that day, my immediate reaction was no. If it’s a good deal today, it’ll be a good deal tomorrow. Unfortunately my husband was insistent that we sign on for it. So now three years later, the property is built and we have two loans (one of them against our home) equaling $522k on a property that I believe is worth $430 – $460k at a maximum. I’m 59 and my husband is 58. I’m so angry at myself for giving in when I knew it was the wrong thing to do.
