    Wow,
This resonates with me having lost my best work friend to a domestic fall at the tender age of 51 in early January. I too am having trouble coping with the reality of this event. A truly well written and thought provoking article. As I have read it I thought you are were talking about me.

So sorry to hear of your loss. Another reminder we can’t take it with us. I am 55 and this year I will be the same age as my father was when he suddenly died and I had a major health scare 10 years ago. My husband is an ex farmer and his mind set is to work until you die and tries to instil this methodology into me. We have 2 IPs and about to take on another, my forever home for my long awaited retirement on the coast. It will stretch us in retirement to keep them all, not to mention the stress of managing. Your article has helped remind me what is important and my next course of action. Thank you for being a decent human being.

Thank you, Neil, for those deep, ever-so-deep, words of wisdom.

It has been the most emotionally moving writing from you that I have read to date and strikes a chord within myself too. You and Thomas were a great team with a friendship of great treasure indeed.

That too was/is the character of my mother who would ‘give the shirt off her back’ to help others. No, I don’t have the investments and wealth base that could be ‘freed up’ to ‘live free’ and help others. But that is what I have deep down inside.

My sadness is that I am in Australia while my dear mom is in South Africa in frail care, probably with not much longer to go, and I don’t have the means (yet) to visit with my kids, nor even alone. That is the first goal I am striving for, as I have not seen her in many years now. Your story has added the-more urgency to that goal.

Once again, thank you for sharing such a rich experience in your own life. I wish and pray for your inner healing over the loss of a great friend. You will always carry a great treasure in your heart from Thomas.

    Kindest regards,
    Walter

The water needs to dry up with the help of professional cleaning as there is a chance of viruses remaining intact. Therefore, Flood Damage Restoration has become a necessity. You may seek assistance from Flood restoration services in Melbourne and Flood Clean Up Services Melbourne in these situations.

hi Neil I’m sorry to hear about the sudden death of your friend Thomas. Two and a half weeks ago I witnessed a fatal car crash of a beautiful 27 year old local man who left behind a beautiful wife and three young kids. I did not know that man but his wife posted a photo of their sweet family on the internet. He had everything I did not have as an ex state ward. This threw me into a nightmare of stress and trauma and I will never forget the photo of the man’s smiling face and the horrific way he died. His spirit will forever stay with me now somehow. Anyway sometimes life can really suck for real. I hope you can carry happy memories of Thomas with you and only feel the trauma sometimes.

Great wisdom in this, thanks for sharing.

It takes risk and effort to build wealth.

It takes even more courage to turn it around and start letting go. And living life!

    Great article, thanks

Great photo and thought provoking words. As always Neil, a terrifically honest article. Melinda and I feel like your article was written to us specifically and we know that we are in the position to make those decisions. We all need to uncomplicate our lives and live for now.
